Osun 2014: The certainty of Iyiola Omisore’s victory and Aregbesola as a reactionary force.
The above assertion best captures the present state of things in Osun and how things have stand over the period of the electioneering campaign towards the build up to the Osun gubernatorial election.
It is quite expedient to state categorically and emphatically too that, while in the initial, Senator Iyiola Omisore was perceived to have a handful of followers and loyalist, he kept his core strategists close and gradually but eventually, the tactics began to draw crowd and the rest as now known is history as against the unwieldy majority that Aregbesola assembled.
While Omisore’s campaign was strewn in parts and units across board with a large dependent on the local population who really owns the vote, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was wielding less tactical and irrelevant jamboree crowd.
While the PDP and her team makes repetitive constructive talks among the population and less on the centre of gravity of Aregbesola stronghold which are his political appointees, Aregbesola was making needless, excessive and brutal responses which was and still further angers his supporters and increase sympathy and passion for Omisore as a supposed opposition.
In most cases, as it is typical of Iyiola Omisore for anyone that has been following his political history, he has a clear political aim which differs totally and contravenes peoples thought that he wanted to redeem his supposed image which never was dented except by political propagandists who seek to defame him but to give the people a new lease of life and bring to bare his wealth of experience both in governance and leadership as well his wealth of experience gathered in his passion for seeing the people emancipated from poverty and lack.
For successful political operations, surprise must be achieved and this, Omisore has brought to bear. While one would have thought of his aristocratic background and says he would never want inconvenience for himself or stress, he redefined what campaigns is and should be and give the clear pointer that his administration will be a people centered one.
Despite his class and aristocracy, the popularity and grassroots network of his party PDP and the supposed and expected support of the federal might and presidency, Omisore went on a ward to ward or suffuse to even say a street to street campaign, meeting the people in their homes and base, interacting and knowing what their needs and expectation from government is, while his mate the candidate of the APC and the outgoing governor of the state, Ogbeni Aregbesola was busy meeting the people as if to say He only wants to inform them of his intention to run for the office by his federal constituency based campaigns which often turns out to be a jamboree than what a campaign should be. Intelligence is extremely important, and detailed knowledge of the target’s dispositions, ( in this case the need of the people) and morale Has been gathered and bet that it is in sufficiency which has been lacking in the last couple of years in the governance of Osun State.
We must come to the inevitable conclusion that Omisore is a social reformer, that he takes up passion in responding to the angry protest of the people against their oppressors, and that he fights in order to change the social system that keeps all his people in ignominy and misery.”
The people are the key base to be secured and defended rather than territory won or enemy bodies counted. It is obvious that this is what Aregbesola represent. A lord of a sort, winning grounds and territories for his Demi God, Tinubu and by extension, himself. As characteristic of him, through whims and violence, he wants to see the bodies and souls of his enemies, both perceived and imaginary counted.
Contrary to the focus of conventional politics, territory gained, or casualty counts are of overriding importance to Aregbesola than real development and the welfare of the people. As the inevitability of victory for Omisore dawns in a number of days from now, i must quickly add that the incoming government and Dr. Iyiola Omisore as our new Governor must focus her efforts on providing physical and economic security for the population and defending it against insurgent attacks and propaganda putting in mind that in another presence, name and color, they shall attempt a return.
Osun shall be rescued on August 9th.
