OSUN ELECTION

President Goodluck Jonathan should be commended for allowing one-man one-woman vote to count in the just concluded Osun State governorship election. The security operatives who initially arrived to supervise the poll appeared like an army of occupation. But nobody thought even in the wildest of imagination that the law enforcement agents could be impartial because they dared not carry out orders from above.
They displayed high level of professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities. Jonathan as the President and Commander in Chief could have done otherwise using his enormous powers to sabotage the general wish of the electorate. But he did not. This is the type of leader Nigeria needs at the moment to deepen democracy and the rule of law.
